Hiking/Camping with fishing
Anybody know of any hikes with good camping combined with decent lake/river for fishing?  I don't want to do the Shenandoah unless I can find a good campsite.  My first option right now is White Rocks just for the camping, but they didn't say anything about the fishing in the review.

Any ideas on where I can go for this coming Labor day weekend?

Any hikes in the Elizabeth Furnace area around Little Passage Creek are probably your best bet in the northern part of the state. Nothing on the white rocks circuit this time of year.

Re: Hiking/Camping with fishing
That's a great choice this time of year. I've heard there is great fishing there. Here is one of many circuits in the MON at Cranberry River with plenty of pics: http://www.hikingupward.com/MNF/CranberryRiver/

Re: Hiking/Camping with fishing
The river was a total bust. Granted I didn't go the Kennison Mt. trail.. rather I hiked it backwards to get to the river for some fishing, so there might have been better waters up north, but from what passer byes were telling me, it was all the same.

hiking and camping with fishing? Dolly Sods wilderness area!  some nice hiking with elevation gains and many people camp right on redcreek.  (they should stock trout in in the area in october btw)   and the leaves should be peak color around late sept.   if you havent been there, you won't want to leave. I have a good circuit hike i did in the wilderness area (aprox 10miles) if anyone wants to add it to the hike map :)    a few of the trail intersections and water crossing are unmarked tho, so you have to pay attention, because the only markings are little rock piles kind folks have made, like in the last pic below.
