| This coming weekend I supposed to lead a group of men and women on a hike near Harrisonburg. The question is where. I think that I am in the predicament of trying to find something to please everybody!
We're staying just off Exit 247A from I-81, a couple miles east of the freeway. Does anybody recommend a not-too-strenuous hike near there that might yield some nice views or a river-side walk or something of interest? With the limitations of a group (size and range of fitness), I don't think we can do more than a 500-foot elevation gain (which would be too strenuous for some) or go much beyond 2.5 miles in distance.
I did see a number of hikes nearby, such as Fridley Gap and Morgan Run, but they seem too long and too stenuous, and there are many possibilities along Skyline Drive, but they too seemed better for individuals who can devote a day, not an afternoon, to the outing.
